9 Herbs That Grow From Seed

When most people think of herbs, they imagine plants that are bought at the grocery store or herb shop. 

However, did you know that many herbs can be grown from seed right in your own backyard? 

In this article, we will discuss some of our favorite herbs that grow from seed.

1. Basil

Basil is a great herb that you can easily grow from seeds and is a great addition to many meals, providing a flavorful punch. 

Basil is also known for its health benefits, such as helping to improve digestion and reducing inflammation. Basil can be used in many dishes, such as pasta sauces, salads, and soups. When cooking with basil, it is important to add it at the end of the cooking.

Also is a great source of magnesium, vitamin A, and vitamin K. Basil is a great way to get your daily dose of these important vitamins and minerals. Basil is easy to grow, so be sure to give it a try in your garden.

2. Thyme

I don’t know about you, but I really like to use thyme with my food. It provides a great flavor and is quite easy to grow. 

 Thyme is pretty much a herb that is used to flavor dishes, salads, meats and even dry rubs. 

Thyme grows quite nicely in warm climates but don’t let it get too hot because thyme does not like temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. 

Thyme will do best in soil that is well-drained with lots of sunlight. Thyme can be planted at different times of the year depending on your area; however, I would recommend planting thyme before it gets too cold out when you still have time for the plant to fully mature before winter season hits.

3. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an interesting herb commonly used in India but grown all over the world. This herb is quite easy to grow from seeds and has a wonderful, unique flavor. 

Fenugreek is a great addition to many dishes and can be used fresh or dried. 

Fenugreek is high in fiber and minerals, making it a healthy choice for your next meal. Add fenugreek to your next curry, soup, or stir-fry for a flavorful boost!

4. Cilantro

It can be easily grown in your kitchen as long as it is exposed to direct sunlight; it’s typically grown in the southern zones since it loves hot weather.

And make sure to water it enough; Cilantro is very sensitive to drought.

Cilantro seeds are small but plentiful. The seedlings are delicate at first but grow quickly once established.

5. Mint

Mints are great fast-growing herbs great to have around the kitchen, especially if you’re looking to use them to add more flavor to your meals.

Mint can also be used for many beauty remedies and cosmetic purposes, for example, in soaps, bath bombs, lip balms, facial masks and moisturizer creams just to name a few.

It also helps neutralize certain nasty smells.

And is easy to care for, they like part shade but will also grow in direct sunlight as long as you water with frequency and fertilize during spring or fall.

Mint will spread rapidly, so it may be necessary to plant them in containers if you don’t want them to take over your garden.

Sage is a great shrub that is commonly used to provide a distinctive taste in kitchens thought the world; this plant also provides medical benefits. 

Sage has been known to help with memory, digestion, and coughs. 

Sage is a great addition to any garden and can be planted by seed or propagated from cuttings. 

Sage grows in full sun or part shade and prefers well-drained soils. Once established, Sage is drought tolerant and needs little supplemental water.
